The night is yours to play with – choose from a programme of short talks from industry creatives and researchers, try out cutting-edge tech or relax with a drink at the bar and enjoy some AI-generated beats.
Get hands-on with the latest and coolest world-leading video game tech being created right on our doorstep. Guest appearances include BeatBlocks Live, an app that lets you create music from Lego bricks and Wholesome Out and About, a cottagecore life simulator about foraging, community and food.
Hear about the latest breakthroughs in virtual reality and augmented reality from Prof Neil McDonnell, who heads up the University of Glasgow’s Museums in the Metaverse project, then have a go at some VR games for yourself.
There’s also the chance to enjoy the classics with some retro arcade games – from Mortal Kombat to the Metaverse, explore how far gaming has come.
The rapid rise of Artificial Intelligence is creating challenges for the creative industries around human creativity, originality, intellectual property, and ethics. However, AI has incredible potential as a tool for creative work - for experimentation or as part of an ideation process.
Explore some of the innovative products, new experiences and groundbreaking creative work that has been developed through funding and support from Edinburgh’s Creative Informatics programme. The free exhibition will run at the National Museum of Scotland as part of Edinburgh Science Festival 2024.
