Without advertising and with only one staff member, the platform quickly reached more than 20,000 women per month in its first six months.
The Flock used its Resident Entrepreneur funding (R4, 2020) to explore innovative reader-funded models that would ensure sustainability and allow for them to pay contributors at a fair rate for their work, while eschewing traditional advertising models. Creative Bridge (Cohort 5 in 2021) helped Jennifer to further align the platform towards becoming a sustainable start-up.
That same year, the Flock won the Holly & Co Independent Awards 2021: Fairy Godmother Award, which support independent businesses with a cash prize.
