Are you curious about how your practice could be boosted through the use of creative technology? We have a collection of equipment, along with tech support, to help you experiment and try out some new technologies. Book a session to discuss your ideas and get a hands-on demo at the E11 Studio at Edinburgh Napier University’s Merchiston Campus.

We have a range of equipment, and we’re always adding to it. The list includes:

  • Virtual Reality (VR) Headsets, including Pico Neo Eye with eye tracking,
  • Augmented/Mixed Reality (AR MR) Headsets: Microsoft Hololens, Magic Leap
  • Photography and video studio setup including camera, LED lighting, chroma key green screen
  • Peel 3D portable scanner
  • Perception Neuron Motion capture suit and gloves
  • Directional Audio speakers
  • Intel RealSense LiDAR cameras
  • HYPERVSN 3D holographic system
  • Projectors and projection mapping kit
  • Various general purpose audio and music equipment, Novation Launchpad, speakers etc
  • Small computing kits, including Raspberry Pi, Arduino, BBC Micro:bit

Many creative practitioners make use of the E11 studio equipment to support the development of their work. Sarah Calmus is an interdisciplinary artist playing with a multitude of media and technology to create spaces that you can get inside and interact with. Creative Coding with Sarah Calmus (video).

Edinburgh-based knitwear designer Maija Nygren creates knitted garments for children and adults that can be assembled by the user using component parts.
