Elizabeth McLean has been Director of the Fruitmarket, Edinburgh since 2004. In that time she has worked closely with the Director Dr Fiona Bradley to deliver a £4m capital refurbishment and extension of the Fruitmarket and to increase and broaden the programming for increasing audiences.
With sole responsibility for the award-winning publishing programme over the last 18 years, she works directly with artists, curators and writers to design, fundraise, and manage production of each book, a second space in which to present their work. Elizabeth has also published books for Hauser & Wirth, Reaktion Press, Creative Scotland, Edinburgh International Book Festival and other cultural organisations.
She manages and supports the Communication and Commercial income teams and is the appointed Head of Digital, ensuring digital is considered and embedded within all programmes and roles and leads on digital partnerships.
