What to expect at the CI Partnership Forum!

Come along to the Creative Informatics Partnership Forum on Wednesday 5th of August from 10am to 12 noon, to find out what we’ve been up to and share your feedback on the Creative Informatics programme. Anyone involved in the creative industries in Edinburgh and South East Scotland is welcome to join us for this friendly and informal online session.

If you haven’t engaged with Creative Informatics yet, help us understand how we can support you and find out more about our future plans and funding opportunities. If you have engaged with the programme, this is your opportunity to tell us what you have gained from taking part and what we could be doing better. You can find the full agenda for this session on our Partnership Forum Eventbrite.

Below is some further information about our activity over the last few months. If you are new to Creative Informatics, this may be useful to help you familiarise yourself with our programme.

Creative Informatics – The Story So Far

Through our Challenge Projects, Resident Entrepreneurs, and Creative Bridge, we have already committed £1,149,000 to support the creative industries in Edinburgh and the surrounding region. The selection process for our Connected Innovators strand, delivered by Creative Edinburgh, is now complete and we will be announcing our successful first round applicants very soon! We have engaged with over 1000 local creative enterprises and launched ten Challenge Projects with leading creative and cultural organisations.

Partnership Forum 1
Our first Partnership Forum took place in October 2019 at The Old Dr Bells’ Baths in Leith. Find out more about what was discussed and the actions we have taken as a result of the feedback we received from attendees. Read more.

Creative Informatics Innovation Showcase

Creative Informatics Innovation Showcase
Our first CI Innovation Showcase took place online, on Wednesday the 17th of June, shining a spotlight on some of the creative individuals and businesses we have supported to date and exploring the impact our programme is having on Edinburgh and South East Scotland’s ecosystem. We also enjoyed some guest presentations and performances from Bernadine Bröcker Wieder, Matt Russo, and Alex McLean. You can watch video highlights from the event now.

Challenge Projects – Round 2
Our second round of Challenge Holders were announced in January. We had a strong pool of applicants and were delighted to select challenges from five exciting creative and cultural organisations. Find out more about our Round 2 Challenge Projects.

Resident Entrepreneurs
Our second round of Resident Entrepreneurs were announced in May. Nine individuals and organisations from across the creative industries were awarded funding of £12,000 to support the development of innovative new products, businesses and services. Find out more about our Round 2 Resident Entrepreneurs.

Creative Bridge
CodeBase’s pre-accelerator programme for the creative industries continues to go from strength to strength and has moved online during lockdown. Find out what some of our Creative Bridge alumni have to say about their experience in this short video.

CI Small Grant Holders
In February we launched a call for small research grants aimed at early career researchers, based at the University of Edinburgh or Edinburgh Napier University, looking to explore innovative uses or applications of data in the creative industries. Find out more about the five projects we funded.

Friday Forum with Visual Arts Scotland

Friday Forum with Visual Arts Scotland
Friday Forum is a series of online sharing events delivered by Creative Informatics in partnership with Visual Arts Scotland between April and July 2020. Each event featured four contributors who showcased snippets of their work, gave virtual tours around their studio spaces, talked about particular topics or themes, or provided insights into their creative practice or career. Re-watch our first three Friday Forums now.

We hope you can join us on Wednesday. If you haven’t signed up yet, register now, and if you have any questions or would like to talk to us before the event, contact the Creative Informatics team at creativeinformatics@ed.ac.uk.
