Highlights from Beyond Conference 2019

Creative Informatics played a major role in last year’s Beyond Conference, which took place in Edinburgh’s Assembly Rooms in November!

The conference featured presentations from some of our Resident Entrepreneurs and Challenge Holders, and members of the Creative Informatics delivery team and directorate were involved in some of the fantastic panels and debates that explored the intersection between AI and creativity over two jam packed days. If you missed out, here are a selection of CI related videos from Beyond Conference for your viewing pleasure!

CI Director Chris Speed kicked off proceedings with an introductory speech co-authored by an AI!

Brendan Miles, Director at The List, one of our Round 1 Challenge Holders, gave an insight into the hidden value found in event listings data.

CI programme Manager Nicola Osborne chaired a panel on Bias, Trust and Inclusion featuring CI Co-Director Michael Rovatsos and artist Karen Palmer. You can now access and use the CI data ethics statement referenced by Nicola during this panel.

Ed Stack explained how Delic, one of our Round 1 Resident Entrepreneurs, is offering a new, progressive asset management platform for independent creators, producers and labels.

Pip Thornton, Creative Informatics Research Associate, presented a Creative Interlude, What are words worth?, and exhibited her {poem}.pi: a critique of linguistic capitalism work throughout the conference.
