Creative Informatics Innovation Showcase

Today (Wednesday 17th of June 2020) we reflect on the first year of the Creative Informatics programme and celebrate the achievements of the creative individuals and organisations that have been supported through the programme so far at our first Creative Informatics Innovation Showcase!

CI Lab 1: Dancing with Data

Since kicking off in January 2019, Creative Informatics has provided funding and development opportunities to a wide range of individuals and organisations working in the creative industries in Edinburgh and South East Scotland, enabling them to explore how data can be used to develop ground-breaking new products, businesses and experiences!

At today’s Creative Informatics Innovation Showcase we’ll hear from some of the creative entrepreneurs and companies that have been supported through the programme to date, alongside performances and presentations from leading creative innovators and researchers.

Chris Speed, Director of Creative Informatics said: “In the first year of Creative Informatics we have seen some fantastic new products, services and experiences developed by talented people that are pushing the boundaries of what is possible. So far, participants in the programme have included festivals, art galleries, designers, artists, publishers, musicians, and architects, working on a variety of funded research and development projects to explore how data, in any form, can be used to drive innovation and growth in the regions creative community.”

Creative Informatics Innovation Showcase

“Our Creative Informatics Innovation Showcase will explore the impact we are having on Edinburgh and South East Scotland’s creative tech ecosystem and consider what’s happening in the rest of the world with an exciting programme of presentations, conversations and performances.”

Guest speakers include Bernadine Bröcker Wieder, founder of global online art marketplace Vastari, astrophysicist and jazz musician Matt Russo, and software artist and live coding musician Alex McLean.
