Creative freedom through sound
Black Goblin is a Sound Service and Technology company based in Edinburgh, co-founded by Ana Betancourt and Gabrielle Haley.
Their mission is to transform the way people work with sound by empowering creatives with the right tools and processes to succeed. Through their Resident Entrepreneur project Ana and Gabrielle are developing a series of sound technologies aimed at creatives with no professional audio experience.
Powered by physical modelling, procedural audio techniques and machine learning, Black Goblin’s software allows anyone to create sound from scratch in an easy, non-technical way, and having a positive impact in the economic and environmental aspects of sound production.
Ana Betancourt took part in Cohort 2 of Creative Bridge, and shared her Creative Informatics experience at CI Lab 6 and the 2020 Creative Informatics Innovation Showcase.
Currently, Black Goblin is on track to develop the first prototype of “Subversive”, the result of their Resident Entrepreneur project.
As of November of 2020, Black Goblin is taking on new commissions in the areas of Film, TV, Games and Arts & Culture. The next year will see them collaborating with Artists like Tuuli Meriläinen and taking part in events such as the Hidden Door Festival.
