Creative Edinburgh Awards 2020!

We were delighted to sponsor two awards at last week’s Creative Edinburgh Awards, celebrating the very best of Edinburgh’s creative community!

This Creative Informatics team got all dressed up and…sat on our sofas at home last week, to enjoy this year’s online Creative Edinburgh Awards ceremony, beamed live from 54EP in Edinburgh. As headline sponsors of this year’s event, we were thrilled to sponsor the Start Up Award and The Leadership Award, celebrating the emerging and established companies and individuals blazing creative trails in Edinburgh. More info on all this year’s shortlisted nominees and award winners below, as well as news of a Creative Informatics win for the Creative Bridge team at CodeBase!

Creative Edinburgh Awards – The Shortlist Movie

The Creative Edinburgh team had to come up with a very different format for this year’s awards. Since everyone couldn’t get together in one place, they produced a fabulous Shortlist Movie, featuring contributions from all the 2020 shortlisted nominees.

The Start Up Award

The 2020 Start Up Award went to The Flock, a digital magazine for ‘women who rise’ which promotes forces for good in fields including creative arts, charity, politics and sustainability. Launched during the Coronavirus pandemic, the magazine was founded by Jennifer Crichton from her home in East Lothian and reaches a network of creative women, empowering them with stories from inspirational women. Congratulations to nominees Fold, Localburgh and Resident Entrepreneurs Touchlab.

The Leadership Award

The Leadership Award went to Hannah Lavery, an award-winning poet and theatremaker, who held weekly writing workshop for writers of colour across Scotland throughout lockdown, which has been described as a “lifeline” during these uncertain times, giving writers in Scotland space to archive global movements for both present communities and future generations. Congratulations to nominees Christine Devaney, Sara Thomson, and Connected Innovator Brian Baglow.

The City Award

The City Award went to our partners at CodeBase, for delivering Creative Bridge! The Creative Bridge team were recognised for bringing a pre-accelerator programme to Edinburgh designed specifically for creatives, which strives to break down barriers and explore new horizons by bringing innovation and experimentation closer together. Congratulations to nominees Creative Mornings Edinburgh and Edinburgh Music Lovers.
