Our 2021 CI Innovation Showcase took place on Tuesday the 8th and Wednesday 9th of June, exploring some of the fantastic work being produced by individuals and organisations in Edinburgh and South East Scotland with support from Creative Informatics and celebrating innovation across the wider creative industries. If you didn’t make it along, here are some highlights from the event that you can catch up on now!
Ecosystem Panel
Our Ecosystem panel was chaired by Oliver Littlejohn, Head of Partnerships at CodeBase, with Anna Gormezano-Marks (Creative Edinburgh), Dr. Nakeema Stefflbauer (Frauenloop), and Miriam Walsh (Ascus). The panel discussed challenges and opportunities for creative ecosystems in Edinburgh and beyond as we start to emerge from the Covid-19 crisis.
In Conversation With Dr. Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE
We were delighted that Dr. Anne-Marie Imafidon, Co-Founder of award winning social enterprise Stemettes and host of the Women Tech Charge podcast, could join us to talk about building a more diverse tech sector in the UK, and how advances in technology are opening up new creative opportunities. Anne-Marie spoke to Janine Matheson, Creative Bridge lead at CodeBase.
Creative Futures Panel
Our Creative Futures Panel explored the implications of the Scottish Technology Ecosystem Review and Scotland’s AI Strategy for the creative industries, discussing emerging opportunities for creatives to innovate in sustainable and inclusive ways in the near and further future. The panel was chaired by Professor Melissa Terras and featured Stephen Coleman OBE (CodeBase), Eliza Easton (Nesta), Clive Gillman (Creative Scotland), Briana Pegado (Fringe of Colour), and Steph Wright (The Data Lab).
