Re-watch all 12 episodes of Friday Forum!

Friday Forum was a series of online sharing events for creatives of all disciplines, delivered by the Creative Informatics team in partnership with Visual Arts Scotland. Friday Forum was established to support individuals in the creative industries facing a loss of income due to Covid-19. Each Friday Forum features four contributors who showcase snippets of their work, give virtual tours around their studio spaces, talk about a particular topic or theme, or provide insights into their creative practice or career.

Friday Forum 1 

The first ever Friday Forum took place on the 24th of April and was hosted by Sarah Calmus from Visual Arts Scotland and Creative Informatics Director Chris Speed. Our contributors were ceramicist Kevin Andrew Morris, Creative Informatics researcher and artist Inge Panneels, Topaz Pauls from Reconfigure Life Drawing, and music producer Ben Seal.

Friday Forum 2

The second edition of Friday Forum took place on the 8th of May and was hosted by Sarah Calmus from Visual Arts Scotland and Creative Informatics Programme Manager Nicola Osborne. Our contributors were artist and designer Juli Bolaños-Durman, theatre critic and writer Mark Fisher, artist Lisa McDonald, and spoken word artist Jenny Lindsay.

Friday Forum 3

The third Friday Forum took place on the 15th of May and was hosted by Sarah Calmus from Visual Arts Scotland and Creative Informatics Research Fellow Inge Panneels. Our contributors were designer and founder of Make Bank Kirsty Thomas, sound artist and graphic designer Dave House, designer Isla Munro, and games designer and consultant Brian Baglow.

Friday Forum 4

Friday Forum 4 took place on the 22nd May and was hosted by Sarah Calmus from Visual Arts Scotland and Creative Informatics Director Chris Speed. Our contributors were hand-weaver and scientist Lynne Hocking-Mennie, photographer Jeremy Sutton-Hibbert, photographer and art model Maxime Ragni, and multi-media artist Megan Rudden.

Friday Forum 5

Friday Forum 5 took place on Friday the 29th May and was hosted by Sarah Calmus from Visual Arts Scotland and Creative Informatics Research Fellow Inge Panneels. Our contributors were composer and sound artist Luci Holland, writer and teacher Gavin Inglis, dance artist Kathryn Spence, and visual artist Julie-Ann Simpson.

Friday Forum 6

Friday Forum 6 took place on the 5th of June and was hosted by Sarah Calmus from Visual Arts Scotland and Creative Informatics Programme Manager Nicola Osborne. Our contributors were visual artist Greer Pester, poet and illustrator Iona Lee, performance artist Sweaetshops, and sound artist Kim Moore.

Friday Forum 7

Friday Forum 7 took place on the 12th of June and was hosted by Sarah Calmus from Visual Arts Scotland and Creative Informatics Senior Research Fellow Ingi Helgason. Our contributors were sculptor and writer Jonathan Ford, artist and illustrator Ursula Kam-Ling Cheng, artist and animator Benjamin Hall, and Hidden Door Director Hazel Johnson.

Friday Forum 8

Friday Forum 8 took place on the 26th of June and was hosted by Sarah Calmus from Visual Arts Scotland and Creative Informatics Director Chris Speed. Our contributors were writer and accessibility consultant Julie Farrell, designer and maker Olive Pearson, artist Carrie Fertig, and musician Alice Allen.

Friday Forum 9

Friday Forum 9 took place on the 3rd of July and was hosted by Sarah Calmus from Visual Arts Scotland and Creative Informatics Research Fellow Inge Panneels. Our contributors were hip-hop artist Shaheeda Sinckler, filmmaker Paul Sng, sound engineer Jane Ruseva Datony, and filmmaker Callum Boath.

Friday Forum 10

Friday Forum 10 took place on the 10th of July and was hosted by Sarah Calmus from Visual Arts Scotland and Creative Informatics programme manager Nicola Osborne. Our contributors were architect and interior designer Dr Hatice Ozhisar, composer and musician Ben Fletcher, textiles designer and maker Deirdre Nelson, and artist and art therapist Gillian Adair McFarland.

Friday Forum 11

Friday Forum 11 took place on the 17th of July and was hosted by Sarah Calmus from Visual Arts Scotland and Creative Informatics Research Fellow Inge Panneels. Our contributors were artist and AI collaborator Fabi Fabi, dance artist and choreographer Jenna Corker, artist Zsofia Jakab, and textiles artist and machine knitter Madeleine Shepherd.

Friday Forum 12

Friday Forum 12 took place on the 24th of July and was hosted by Sarah Calmus from Visual Arts Scotland and Creative Informatics programme manager Nicola Osborne. Our contributors were new media artist and Resident Entrepreneur Martin Disley, composer and musician Oguz Kaplangi, artist Kate Steenhauer and AI engineer Andrew Starkey, fashion futurist Karinna Nobbs, and comic book artist Anna Francesca Schiraldi.
